iBooks Author is about transforming the educational market
Although not a complete surprise, Apple launched an impressive application at their New York event on January 21st: iBooks Author.
Together with iBooks 2, the update of iTunes U, the immediately availability of free (US) textbooks and the fact that iBooks and iBooks Author are free of charge, clearly shows Apple's ambitions regarding the educational market.
It was not a complete surprise since it was specifically mentioned in Jobs' biography: "In fact Jobs had his sights set on textbooks as the next business he wanted to transform. He believed it was a $8 billion a year industry ripe for digital destruction."
You can imagine that we at WoodWing were specifically interested in iBooks Author as the creation tool. read more >>
New multi-channel magazine is launched, called 360
Last Wednesday a new magazine was launched in the Netherlands, called 360.
360 chooses the best news-articles from a selection of international magazines and newspapers and translates it for its readers. It's based on the French success of Courrier.

The editors of 360 selected WoodWing Enterprise as their multi-channel publishing system. PubliQare has been the Solution Partner implementing this new title. More details about this project are to follow soon.
We are looking forward to the success of 360. The courage, the vision and the energy put into this adventure deserves great respect. We're proud having another multi-channel publisher being part of the WoodWing community. Welcome 360 read more >>

It was surprising to see how quickly this article was picked up by other media-oriented blogs. It almost seemed as if some bloggers were relieved by the news, as if it was an indication the tablet revolution would pass by. Well folks, looking at the traffic going through our systems, the revolution has only started! read more >>
It's true, the iPad is a lean-back device
And it offers publishers an opportunity to re-gain their media position.
Having a solid (and rapid growing) installed-base gives us the opportunity to analyze the traffic going to a large amount of iPads. It gives a good indication when tablets are being used for media consumption throughout the day and throughout the week. read more >>
Another breakthrough in tablet publishing
With publications being launched onto the iPad almost every day, it's hard to keep track of what's hot and what's not.
Today a publication went live that has set a new milestone: TRVL Magazine.
It's a travel magazine filled with stunning photography. However, although great content, it's not so much the content that makes TRVL a game changer, what is so special is the fact that it's an iPad only magazine made by three guys who took their moment to become a tablet-publisher! read more >>
